Happy Birthday, a new Pitts 12 is born…

To celebrate Roy’s 54th birthday, we begun the journey of building our own plane from the bottom up. After stalking Barnstormers, Ebay, and TAP for months, good deals were found for the some of the more costly basic components needed for the build. With the acquisition of a Russian M14P radial engine, MT prop, landing gear, HP ailerons, and cowling the stage is set to begin building of the newest airplane in our Fleet: N12RM.
At Sun n Fun I got to meet with Kevin Kimball and finalize the purchase of the 12 complete kit. Unfortunately it is not like buying a TV at Best Buy, you don’t grab what you want off the shelf and take it home. I would now have to wait for the sub kits to be manufactured.

Hello, I have recently purchased plans for the model 12. I am in the process of building a Tiger Moth at present which I hope to complete within the next year or so. I really love the Model 12 but am certain that i will need some more flight experience and a rating better than Sport pilot which I now hold. I am building up to the Pitts you could say. I see the engines are now very reasonable. I wish you all the luck on completion, what a feat it will be! Please post as much data as you can. This is the boost many builders need to get back on track! Good Luck! Rob S.

    • Thanks Rob. This project will test my perseverance. I have rebuilt a Waco and a Starduster that were wrecked, but those were each completed in about a year. Pretty quick gratification. I am trying to get caught up with my posts. The wings are moving along. I hope to finish those before spring. Good luck on the Tiger Moth. Rack up as much tail wheel time as you can before tackling the 12.
